Isaac Savaryn found a passion for viticulture quickly after the initial vines were planted at Sovereign in 2007. With inspiration from one of Sovereign Estate's original French wine interns and a little persuasion from his Father, Isaac decided to make a career in viticulture.
With eyes set on the Viticulture and Enology program at Washington State University, he moved west to the Columbia Valley Region and spent the next four years learning from some of the industry leaders in grape growing and winemaking. In addition to college, Isaac worked for large scale wineries that produced wine for Chateau Ste. Michelle and other premium wineries that produced only a few hundred cases a year. Graduating in 2016 in the top of his class, Isaac was one of the first Minnesotans to obtain a degree in Viticulture and Enology. After graduation he headed to the southern hemisphere and spent a season in Stellenbosch, South Africa.
In 2017, Isaac returned home and joined the Sovereign team full time as the head Viticulturist. Focused on the future, Isaac quickly took steps to expand the Estate to over 30 acres of grapes. With hands-on management of our premium vineyard and focused on improving quality, he works hand in hand with Ben to produce the best wines in the state year after year.
As an avid outdoorsman, Isaac enjoys every aspect of the vineyard. When he's not in the vineyard you can often find him spending time with his wife and kids around Waconia.
